On Friday, March 14th we were one of the speakers at a Congressional Briefing on Capitol Hill for Blood Clot Awareness Month. The National Blood Clot Alliance asked us to attend to share Asher's Story.
The week prior we had our first ever Children's Thrombosis Awareness Day and we learned that because of our awareness day, National Blood Clot Alliance added a section about blood clot's in children. They never before had this brochure on their website.
Because of telling Asher's story and opening the eyes of everyone that heard it, we were invited by the President of the National Blood Clot Alliance to attend their Board of Director's meeting next month in Chicago. They weren't even aware of this huge problem in children.
Asher's story and the pictures of how the blood clots changed him really opened the eyes of all those that saw the pictures and heard his story. These clots are happening to children and more research is needed and better treatments are needed and more awareness needs to be spread!
