Olivia’s story began the day I found out I was pregnant. It was Tuesday, June 14, 2011. I went to work and didn’t feel very good. I asked JD if the pizza we had eaten the night before had made him sick. He always gets upset stomachs over certain foods where I never have any problems. I thought it was weird that I was feeling so sick to my stomach. By the time that lunch came, I had to force myself to eat because food just didn’t sound good to me. By the time I got off work and made it home, I just knew I was pregnant. I took a pregnancy test and showed JD and he didn’t want to believe it. We went out and got a digital test and it said YES! We just laughed cause who can argue with a YES.
I was so excited to be pregnant and couldn’t wait to tell everyone. We announced very early in the pregnancy that we were expecting. All our appointments went well and all the test came back good. Our little baby girl was progressing as she was suppose to. That was until November 22, 2011.
The morning of November 22, 2011, I knew something was not right. I was spotting and I didn’t feel right so I called my doctor’s office to see what I should do. The receptionist said she would talk to the doctor and see what she wanted me to do. During my lunch I got a call from the doctor’s office telling me to go check in at Labor and Delivery. I remember I said “At the hospital?” Then I thought to myself, can this really be happening?? Luckily JD was home on his lunch and I picked him up and we went to the hospital. I knew my life was about to change. I just knew!
The nurse got me all situated and checked Olivia’s heart beat….Nothing! She said “let me get a better machine.” I knew at that point. Olivia always had a very strong heart beat. Next a doctor came in….still nothing. She claimed it was her machine too. Then came the specialist and my doctor…… “Your baby has no heartbeat, we’re very sorry.” At this point I just went into shock. How could this be happening to us? This was suppose to be our year. Not our year to lose a baby.
At 2:13am on November 23, 2011 Olivia Madilynn DeBouver was born. She weighed 1 pound, 2 ounces and was 11 inches long.
An Angel in the book of life wrote down our baby’s birth and whispered as she closed the book “Too beautiful for Earth.”
